Is Dropshipping Dead in 2024? That’s the question millions of people are asking but what is the right answer to this question? Well the answers to this questions is different based on who you ask. For example, if you ask a 15 year old boy he’s gonna say NO, And he might say that when he grows up he will start a Dropshipping store and make millions of dollar with little work. But is this True?

Well it is and it’s not! If you see these ‘Influencers’ online saying that Dropshipping is one of the best businesses in 2024 to make a ‘lot’ of money you might be in the same position as i was a couple of years ago. You see in my own eyes these influencers are just making money out of you, talking and lying constantly. Why? Well because in reality Dropshipping worked in 2012 but it doesn’t work as you might think. Yeah, maybe you do see a couple of influencers online saying they made money from Dropshipping and it’s true. I’m not saying it’s not, but just look from my perspective. According to the Internet. There are over 20 million Dropshipping Stores around the World, and you think you can get a spot in 2024?

How does Dropshipping work?

Before we get into more details, let’s talk about what is and how does it work? Dropshipping is a business model in which you, as the retailer, don’t keep any inventory in stock. Instead, when you sell a product through your online store, you purchase that item from a third-party supplier, who then ships it directly to the customer. This means you never actually handle the product yourself.

Here’s how it works: You start by setting up an online store and listing the products you want to sell. When a customer places an order on your store, you forward the order details to your supplier. The supplier then prepares the product and ships it directly to the customer. You make a profit from the difference between what you charged the customer and what you paid the supplier.

Why Did Dropshipping worked in 2012 but not in 2024?

Now, ‘Influencers’ online will tell you that doing Dropshipping in 2024 is the same as doing it in 2012. Now, this is completely untrue and a big lie. in another way, "People are not stupid anymore". You really think that you can take a $1 cheap product and sell it off for $20? Yeah… you might live with Aliens cause here on Earth that’s a little bit old-fashion. I mean you really think that people don’t already know these Chines Businesses like: AliExpress, Shein, Temu etc… ? The world has evolved, it’s not the same as it was a decade ago. People now have access to the internet and it’s just not the same.

Are Influencers Lying to us?

Well to answer this question we need to get more specific. It depends on which influencer are we talkin’ about! One of my Favorite one is this guy called Jordan Welch. When i started dreaming about Dropshipping this guy was on my top list. And not to lie he’s great and i loved his content when i watched it. But is he lying? Well, in my perspective he’s not lying but he just doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Now what i mean by that is that he has gone through bad and hard times to get where he is right now, and now that he’s at the top, he doesn’t look down anymore.

Like if your really good at something(Let’s say Football), even if you make hundreds of videos showing how to play like a pro in football, if the people who are watching you, don’t get up to play football and learn new skills, they’re never going to get anywhere near being a professional footballer, if they just watch videos but not practice it. The same is with this guy, he tells you how to be a ‘successful’ Dropshipper but unless you do it yourself, you never going to get better, Check out ‘This video‘ Of Jordan, see how much time and how hard was for him to finally be profitable with Dropshipping.

Now besides him, i don’t think there other who are completely honest about their videos and their success. I think most of them are just online influencers who want you, to buy their online courses and ‘learn new thing’ according to them.

Should i pursue Dropshipping or College?

College vs Dropshipping! The two most controversial debates of the decade. Internet was invented to help people learn real new things from professionals and not from uneducated influencers(not all of them). Wikipedia was invented for people to learn anything for free anywhere, and got millions of people to contribute, YouTube had the same objective, Instagram was invented to share photos/videos but turned into a dead story, so are all the other social medias(maybe expect Facebook). But should you really pursue a Business with no experience as a teenager or go to your dream college and get a degree?

Well see, these influencers online tell you that School is a scam and that the ‘Matrix’ has gotten into people and that John D Rockefeller(The men who founded school), made School only because he wanted to ‘Create Jobs’ and not new ‘Entrepreneurs’. But see, the reason why your alive it’s because of School. The only reason why these online influencers tell you that ‘School is Scam’, is that because they want you to buy their courses for hundreds of Dollars with nothing valuable to learn in it.

Now it is true that school can’t make you an entrepreneur or a businessman, that’s not because school doesn’t want you to be an entrepreneur, but because they can’t even if they want to make entrepreneurs. Why you might ask? Well because your born as a entrepreneur, you can’t become one, just like in sports, you’re born a boxer, you cannot become one. And as for if school is useless, well ask some of the richest people on earth which went to some of the best schools in the entire world. And if you wanna go to college, if you’d listen to me, stay away from the business career cause ‘if they teach you to make millions, they wouldn’t be teachers for around $55,000/Year’.

My Personal Opinion

Now hearing all those, i want to give my personal opinion on Dropshipping itself and does it really make money? Well guys those who where born after the 2000s, have really small chances of becoming really rich. Like Y’all remember when Facebook was launched in the mid 2000s? It was booming because it was the only Social media website at the time where you could really connect with people. Sure there were other like Friendster and MySpace but Facebook was different, and with the smart moves of Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook(a Startup), challenged and beat MySpace(A Multi-Billion Dollars Business).

The Point i wanna make here is that even if you have all the money in the world, if you don’t have a good product or service, it’s not going to work. You can’t make a website now to find and connect with long lost friends, because your going to be crushed by Facebook. Sure you can also try to make a powerful search engine but Google’s gonna crush you too. Do you remember in 2012, where if you had a blog and you would post an article, the next day you would be rank number one on Google! Well that’s impossible to happen today because there are millions of blogs trying to compete with each other.

So, in this case with Dropshipping it’s the same, in 2012 there were none Dropshipping stores but now there are million of stores trying to compete against each other but only those who have been to the game for years will get a spot, not you, an ordinary 9-5 person trying to get rich-quick, there’s no way to get rich quick now if you don’t have a good idea.

Ideas don’t come out fully formed , they only become clearer as you work on them . You just have to get started.

Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page. These guys made a trillion Dollars Empire and the only way they did it is because they had a great service/product that solved a problem. Most of today’s Business ideas revolve on something that already exist on the market. Like i said doesn’t matter who you are, if the service or product you’re creating already exist, then it’s just a waste of time. Remember Google+ ? Yeah it cost more than 5 Billion Dollars to make it, but it was crushed by Facebook even though Google had more Resources and Money. Or Me for example, i made Aspodo for Tech | Business | Finance news, but still i am so small near big media companies like Forbes or BusinessInsider.

Is there any other way to Sell Online ?

Yes, there are a lot of other ways to sell online, Here is an Pretty good business idea to sell online! So, if you wanna go easy, Facebook Marketplace is the best answer. You can just sell products that you have at your Home, that you no longer use or need them anymore. And then the second way is a interesting way to sell products. I saw it while i was in Switzerland.

So there’s this guy where he makes around $1000 a day in sales by selling snacks, drinks, food and other things, just like a retail store or like Uber, but like 10 times faster, like it delivers to you whatever you want in less than 20 minutes, like whatever you want, and he made that business just a little bit over a year ago. Maybe you think a $1000 a day it’s not much but it’s around $500 a day in Profit which is around $15,000 a Month, and this is in Switzerland where the wages are about $4500 a month. Plus this guy is growing everyday faster and faster and adding more and more products, hiring new people and like, in 4 Months they bought 2 brand new Tesla model S and they now have 3 beautiful Apartments.

This goes to show that Dropshipping isn’t the only option here, there are a lot of other business ideas that can make you money, you just have to continue and if you find something that has potentials to be big you just take the shot, no matter what happens fail or succeed. No clean Business made their Money easy, and almost every Business had at least one failure.

In Conclusion, Dropshipping doesn’t work for people like you or me, It only work for those who have knowledge in this type of Business/Industry. It Works for people who have been in this game for so long, it works for people who have been doing Dropshipping before these famous Chines Websites really started to become famous. It worked for people who did Dropshipping even before Covid-19 Where people weren’t on their phone 24/7 like they are now and they weren’t even interested to know about these websites.

But even though Dropshipping has small potential to work in 2024 and the following years, it requires smart moves to get yourself out there in the market. It require to be that smart that from over 20 Million people competing to get higher on the list, you have to be smart one and have a plan with your Dropshipping store to succeed, because i don’t really think people understand what, and how Dropshipping really worked a decade ago .VS. now. It’s like buying a house, in the 80s, houses were really cheap and you could’ve easily gotten a Mortgage, and after 6-7 Years the house is yours, but it’s not the same anymore, houses are around 400 to 500 thousand dollars. If i could give you an advice, it would be to not listen to these influencers online but to start working as a typical person, and if you have a good idea for a service/product to put in into the market that would make an impact, don’t be afraid to give it a shot.
